How to get to us at Eagle's Nest

There are many ways to come to our house ..

1. With plane ...

a) Airlines:

b) Airports

  • Dublin Airport (280km, 4-5 hours to the house):Aer Lingus, RyanAir, Lufthansa, u.a.
  • Shannon (280 km, 6 hours RyanAir a.o.
  • Knock (190 km, 3-4 hours RyanAir, Easy jet u.a.
  • Sligo (120 km, 2-3 hours): Aer Lingus & Charter Belfast/Antrim (180km, 3 hours): Easy Jet, Ryanair, u.a.
  • Galway Airport: not recommendable
  • Donegal Airport CFN Carrickfinn (aprox. 35 km,30min): Aer Arann

The fastest way to come to our house ist taking the plane to Dublin or Glasgow and than take the Aer Arann to Carickfinn (CFN).

On all other airports you can decide to take a rental car or the bus (bus Eireann).

2. With car or ferry

a) P&O Ferries

Daily Zeebrügge/Belgien und Rotterdam/Niederlande to Hull in Nordengland. The ships are big and very comfortable. You can book also Familycabins. From Hull are daily ships back to the departure ports. The ship need aprox. 14 hours. Complete bookings to Larne/Irland via the south-scottish port Cairnryan, (420 km from Hull). This ship needs aprox. 1 hour. From Larne its a distance from approx. 200 km to the house in the Gweebarra Bay. Bookings directly by the ferries office are mostly quickly possible.

b) Scandinavien Seaways

Between half time of April and the end of December daily Amsterdam – Newcastle and back. Complete booking via Stranraer – Belfast (120 Minuten)possible. The route from Newcastele to port Stranraer in the southwest from Scotland is very beautiful. (Hadrian's Wall and southwest-coast Scotland) The 260km distance from Newcastle to Stranraer is aprox. 4 hours. Prices depence of the booking periode. Special prices for kids. Book early - safe money ..

c) Irish Ferries

From France (LeHavre, Cherbourg or Roscoff) starting this ships to Rosslare and Cork in the south of Ireland. You need approx 23 hours to come to Eagle's Nest, because you cross the whole country, better plan a two day trip.

3. Rent a car

If you like to continue your holiday from the airport with a rental car, better book in advance. But a short time booking is also very easy. Every airport in Ireland has many different stations with special offers.
Caution ! Compare all offers - you safe a lot of money !!!

4. Arrival from airport with bus

a) from Dublin to Dungloe

daily at Royal Dublin Hotel to Dungloe and back (time schedule to be asked, changes often)

b) from Belfast to Dungloe

daily from Belfast centre to Dungloe and back (time schedule to be asked)

c) from Letterkenny to Dublin and back

(time schedule to be asked)

5. Route description with car from Carrickfinn airport, Donegal

Leave the airport on the R259 to Dungloe (An Clochán Liath), pass Crolly to the N 56 . In Dungloe stay on the N 56 in direction to Glenties. After approx. 12 km you are coming to the little village Lettermacaward. You pass at the left side the "Gweebarra Bar" with a little "cope" shop. Just after 1 km straight in front of the Gweebarra Bridge you take the small road "An Cullion"to the right. A street mark "Eagle's Nest Bed and Breakfast" will help you. Now you only need to follow this small road aprox. 2 km nestled in a small forest you find our house on the right hand side.

6. Route description with car from Larne (Belfast) bzw. London(Derry)

From Larne you take the A8 to Ballynure, than you take the A57 to Antrim. Now you take the M2 to Antrim. From Antrim you use the A6 to London(Derry). Pass in Derry the Foyle-Bridge and follow the street marks to Letterkenny (Leitir-Ceanain)

In Letterkenny you take the R250 (keep attention, the small street is not easy to see) to Glenties you are coming after a while to a small village called Fintown. You go to the right in direction to airport/Dungloe on the R252 You follow this road until the village Doochary and follow than the street marks to Lettermacaward (after the little bridge to the left). If you can't find the very small road, don't hesitate to ask somebody. After aprox. 12 km you come to the N 56 and go to the left to Glenties After 2 km, just before you see the Gweebarra Bridge you take the right and follow the street mark Eagle's Nest Bed & Breakfast (Cullion Road, An Cullion) Now follow this very small road approx. 2km and welcome to the Nest !

7. Route description with car from Dublin

Take after the airport roundabout the M1 in direction to Belfast. You leave the motorway on the entrance Dundalk You follow the N 5 to Monaghan, Omagh, Strabane/Lifford, (London)Derry, now follow the description above.

8. Route description from Sligo

You take the N15 to Bundoran and Ballyshannon to the direction Donegal City Now you take the N 56. You can follow now this very beautiful road to the Gweebarra Bridge. After you pass the bridge you take immediately the next road to the left and follow the street mark "Eagle's Nest Bed & Breakfast" or "An Cullion" and after 1.5 km you the the house on the right hand side nestled in a small forest. If you wanna safe a lot of kilometers, you take after you passed Mountcharlesthe road to Frosses/Glenties After a while you come again to the N56 and follow the direction as above.
