Each month, we donate 10% of a day’s sales to support a local nonprofit’s work. In December, we’re doing it twice! Shop at our store in South Asheville’s Parkway Center on Saturday, December 2, to support the Children’s Welfare League of Asheville.
Call it civic pride or mountain spirit, but we think supporting the work of those maintaining trails, cleaning waterways, connecting youth to outdoors, and doing other awesome things to keep WNC a place we can all enjoy…well, it’s the right thing to do. As the area’s first outdoor store, we’ve enjoyed the support of our friends and neighbors since 1964.
Since it’s founding over 75 years ago, the Children’s Welfare League of Asheville has held one common purpose: to improve the lives and education of the children of Buncombe County. Today they support 222 promising — but financially vulnerable — high school students by providing them much-needed monthly stipends. They give emergency funding to students identified by high school social workers. They fund endowed scholarships at University of North Carolina Asheville and Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College so local students can achieve the dream of continuing their education.
