Women’s Hike: American Chestnut Tree
Join Brittany States for a hike that will focus on the revival of the American chestnut, how the poplar tree has taken its "place" in western North Carolina, and its tree identification through leaf and fruit characteristics. The hike will start as a one and a half mile loop. The group will continue on a two mile path that is connected on the Mountains to Sea Trail, but individuals are welcome to join just for the loop. Join Sandi Newman for a "Back to School" women's hike to Rattlesnake Lodge, which is along the Mountain To Sea Trail about 25 minutes outside of Asheville. This three-mile moderate hike will be slow and welcoming to all abilities. The group will meet at Frugal Backpacker and carpool to the trailhead. Well-behaved dogs with owner on leash are welcome at this event that's free and open to the public.

Women’s Hike to Laurel River Trail
We will leave from Frugal Backpacker and car pool to the trail head. This is a moderate four mile hike with plenty of chances to enjoy the fall colors. We will be back to the store around 2:00. Kids and well-behaved pets with owner on leash are welcome. RSVP on Facebook
