Join Brittany States for a hike that will focus on the revival of the American chestnut, how the poplar tree has taken its “place” in western North Carolina, and its tree identification through leaf and fruit characteristics. The hike will start as a one and a half mile loop. The group will continue on a two mile path that is connected on the Mountains to Sea Trail, but individuals are welcome to join just for the loop. Bring plenty of water, snacks, and a light lunch if you plan to continue on the full hike. The group will meet at Diamond Brand Outdoors in Parkway Center at 9:00 a.m. and carpool to the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center about five miles away.
Well-behaved dogs with owner on leash are welcome at this event.
