From the Asheville Citizen-Times:
Back by standing-room-only popular demand, Asheville filmmaker Chris Gallaway will bring back another screening of his award winning documentary, “The Long Start to the Journey,” which premiered in Asheville last year to sold out shows.
Gallaway and his wife, Sunshine, have been busy since last year – they just welcomed their first baby in January. Congrats! Now they’re hitting the film circuit again, but want to make sure all of Asheville – which is home to oodles of Appalachian Trail thru-hikers – the chance to see the movie.
The scenic, yet sometimes brutal and tragic film details Gallaway’s 2013 thru-hike of the 2,189-mile Appalachian Trail, supported along the way by his wife, Sunshine.
Most recently the film won “Best in Show” at the Boone Film Festival. The movie is also now available on DVD and BluRay through the film’s website.
On May 7 Gallaway will host another Asheville screening to help meet the demand created at last year’s showing. Hosted by Diamond Brand Outdoors, the screening will be 7:30-9:30 p.m.at the Asheville Community Theatre, 35 E. Walnut St. Part of the proceeds will go to the Carolina Mountain Club and Lifelines outdoor ministry. Tickets are $7.
