Most of us don’t need a reason to celebrate the National Parks, but in 2016, the National Park Service turns 100. Backpacker magazine and Subaru have sent a two-person #NPS100 Road Team on an epic road trip to over 40 National Parks to celebrate the personalities, places, and stories that make the park service as iconic as the ranger hat.
Aidan Lynn Klimenko and Madison Perrins, the #NPS100 Road Team, will stop at our Parkway Center store on February 29 for a photography clinic on their way to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If you’re a photography enthusiast, a fan of National Parks, a general outdoor-lover, or all of the above, join us for their tips on the perfect photo composition, long-exposure night shots, and other landscape photography essentials, while also explaining how we can capture the beauty of the parks while simultaneously working to preserve these lands for generations to come.
Aspiring photographers and outdoor junkies can also submit photos of National Parks for a chance to win prizes from Diamond Brand Outdoors, including a Mountain Hardwear Optic 6, a spacious six-man dome tent. Photos can be from far away or right here at home; the NPS manages the Appalachian Trail, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Carl Sandburg Home, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the Trail of Tears.
